Once a Town Mouse and a Country Mouse became friends. One day the Country Mouse requested his friend, Town Mouse, to come and see him at his home in a paddy field. The Town Mouse came and talked with each other, they sat down to a dinner with foods which had a distinctly earthy flavour .
But after finishing dinner the town mouse said, “My poor dear friend, you are living here like the ants. You should see how I live in town. You must come and stay with me and I promise you will see the real beauty of living.”
So, after some days, when he came back he took the Country Mouse with him and showed him a container filled with flour and oatmeal and figs and honey and dates.
The Country Mouse never saw anything like it before and sat down to enjoy the food his friend provided. But when they were about to start eating, the door of the container opened and some one came in. The two Mice rushed off and hid themselves in a dark and narrow hole. They were afraid and looked at each other. When all was quiet, they embarked again. But some one else came in, and off they ducked out again. This was too much for the Country Mouse. “Good bye,” said he, “I’m off. , I can see that you are living in the lap of luxury, but you are enclosed by dangers whereas at home I can enjoy my simple dinner in peace.”
